The Challenge

On meeting CEO & co-founder, Thomas in 2021, Owkin was already trusted and deployed by the largest cancer centres and pharmaceutical companies across Europe and the US and had just raised $70M from tier one VC funds. For the two co-founders, a former clinical research doctor and a pioneer in machine learning, Owkin was their first executive leadership role. 

To deliver on Owkin’s ambitious roadmap and quickly accelerate the growth of its network of partners and collaborators worldwide, the main objective was to build a global HR function to support the strategic direction of the business.

The activities of the existing HR team had been limited to purely talent acquisition and payroll management. The new CPO would create a C-level organisational structure as well as build a solid company culture, globally.
